We call these new courses “The Power of Ten” because we believe ten hours of targeted professional development can significantly impact student writing performance. Trait Date will inspire you with practical ideas and strategies. Learn how to systematically introduce and reinforce each trait and address specific modes. Leave with devices that you can use tomorrow, including those pesky conventions. Jumpstart your reluctant writers and inspire all your students with The Blank Page. Motivate, encourage and activate your students with hundreds of prompts and instructional strategies that address the writing traits. Student Writing Conferences addresses this question: How can I respond appropriately to every student during individual conferences? Learn how to structure class time in order to meet with each writer on a regular basis. Participants are encouraged to bring actual student writing samples to gain hands-on experience in the workshop. Treasure Hunt helps your students mine the treasure of their story through effective revision. Promote revision strategies as the tools in this process. Cost: $250.00 per teacher without credit, and $325.00 for one credit hour through the University of Oregon.
